WHO AM I ?

I'm Dania Baig, and am currently a senior in High School in the city of Chicago. As an Indian-Muslim, I have always been passionate about social justice issues, and in this political climate, I felt it most important to share my thoughts on the events in this country. I feel that it is extremely important to promote intersectionality and equity-- and hopefully encourage others to do so in this blog as well.

Hey everyone! Long time no see. Junior year is long gone, and it’s given me some time to think about what I want to write for my next article. Since I started the blog to explore issues that came to light during and after the 2016 Election, I’ve continued to find many...

Hey everyone! It’s good to be back and writing after a long hiatus. Junior year in high school has really been a lot of work, but truly, one for the books. Not only am I trying to juggle the normal demands of my junior year academic schedule, but also continuing to pur...

I spent a small part of my summer in Rome— a trip I had been looking forwa...

Most of the time, my sister is a complete nuisance. She’s loud, obnoxious, and steals my clothes. Something that we have in common however, is our profound love for the Marvel and DC franchises, and the frustration that accompanies our love of action movies, reflects s...

Teenagers mostly hear about the consequences of drugs and alcohol from their worried parents, counselors, or teachers, usually in the context of partying, drunk driving, and other health and safety issues. But this summer, my interest in social justice led me to seek a...

Many times, I’m truly amazed by how stuck people are within their own points of view. Almost no one seems interested in seeing things from another perspective. And with the world as stubborn as it is, how can we possibly build bridges and understanding? The answer has...

May 23, 2017

Taking a bit of a turn from my last three articles, the topic I’d like to discuss today applies to all of us. The concept has recently popped up in the news alongside the new health care -TrumpCare plan, in social media when speaking about gender divides, and specifica...

May 9, 2017

In my last two articles, I discussed the ideas of who Muslims should speak for and, in turn, who should speak for us. The writing and publications of these last two articles made me reflect on the coming together of the aforementioned minorities. I myself am extremely...
